The caveat being you have to subtract voltage for it to raise the voltage, just a bug but doesnt affect anything (Do not apply the default -750mv as it applies about 1.85idle there)

Anyway here is the card modded up and mounted with a slim on it. The memory mod is just a normal FB mod on the controller, on air raising it did not help. 1250mhz was the hard limit on the mem even up to 1.85vMem. On cold it helped me go a little cooler and also was able to push up to 1300mhz which was the limit of this bios will have to check for another version.

Here is the setup with ASRock killer M 3.1 with 5960x on water (just want to see if the card was worth my time.) I use a little ASUS Transformer to control the EVC but next time I might just use the PC it is connected to instead, I need more hands.

Next time I will insulate the backside of the card for now just Liquid tape is working fine for this short session.

At about 1.700vGPU the pot is becoming quite a chore to control. I will use a larger pot next time to save my shoulder some straining.

Now above 1.72vGPU still no sign of OVP/OCP this tool is quite amazing and very underrated. With 2 points connected to card simply and to have complete control of the Core voltage is so nice. Even a numbskull like me can bench a card like this pretty high! The GPU itself does not seem to like lower than -85c on the start of the bench and -95c or so load. Getting little cubes artifacts everywhere if too cold.

This is the highest screen I took. Game test is highest and will take the gold in vantage when I have some more ln2 this week. I ran halfway through at 1375/1300 1.78vGPU but my son woke up from his nap so I aborted the run. It was just nice to know there is more left in the tank and I have a target for my next run.


If you have not done so already, the EVC is an amazing tool and every overclocker should have one in safe keeping (not spamming I bought mine). To go back to the style of benching a GPU where more voltage means more clocks was a nice refresher from having TIM problems and special BIOS etc and other nonsense.

PS: Is there a way to force 3D state for ATI HD5800 series? Maybe I can go colder then idle. It drops .200mv and goes to 157mhz core for now. AB and power play stuff didnt help. Hopefully I can take all the golds with this baby for our team
